Burges ECHS will commit to the success of all students by promoting accountability, responsibility, and lifelong learning. “The Burges Standard”:
All students will perform at a college, career, or community readiness level within four years. Burges ECHS is an educational opportunity provided through the collaboration of the El Paso Independent School District, El Paso Community College, and the Texas Education Agency. Early college schools provide rigorous, supportive learning environments that blend high school and the first two years of college. This is a unique opportunity for high school students to acquire a college associate’s degree while attending and participating in a traditional high school and also earning a high school diploma. This school-wide concept is a first of its kind within El Paso County, as it promotes advanced coursework for college credit while providing a school atmosphere that encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities (UIL, athletics, clubs, etc.).
